这些词属于正式肯定和意义否定的副词。
Rarely和seldom都意味着“很少” 罕见的,罕见的;罕见的(表频),seldom更正式,更书面。
People rarely ask questions. 人们很少有问题。
She was seldom seen in public. 她很少在公共场合露面。
Barely 也是“很少”的意思, 但否定意味着“能不能”。
She nodded, barely able to speak. 她点点头,几乎说不出话来。

还有一点需要注意的是,这些副词都含有负面意义,所以在回答反意义问题时,应该使用肯定的类型;此外,当它们被放置在句子的开头时,后面的句子应该倒装。如:
